My mother, also a pastor's wife, was comforting someone who had lost her mate. Mother was offering hope and encouragement by focusing the woman on heaven and that her husband was no longer in pain. The woman harshly responded, "Well that's not helping me one bit!" and slammed the phone down hanging up on my mother. My mother cared deeply about this woman's pain, and tried to offer comfort. It's hard to know what to do and what to say sometimes.
The best we can do is point someone to the comfort God gives in times of pain and sorrow. Only God can really reach our deepest needs and heal our greatest hurts. Only God can literally replace intense pain with peace. He can calm the storm whether it's on the raging sea, or deep within our hearts.
This is another of the cards I made at Linda Wright's card-making event. Visit her website for contact information and sign up for her classes. You will love them. I was crazy about this color combination--Pear Pizzazz, Early Espresso and Baja Breeze. The three simple panels offer tons of color interest and the flowers add the perfect artistic touch. All supplies are, of course, Stampin' Up!

It´s a beautiful card. I like the sentiment and the colors.
Beautiful card and even more beautiful sentiment, Diane. Thanks for charing.
You never know when those words are going to touch someone's heart. That was me today, thanks for reminding me He is the healer of spirit and body!
What a beautifully written post and so true. God is the only healer and comforter. In those times when sympathy is needed I always pray that I do or say the right thing. A perfect sentiment and such a beautiful card!!
blessings,
Chris
Love the colors you chose...very soothing. Sorry your Mom's word's were not taken well. :(
What a beautiful heartfelt card, and the sentiment is such a good one for the occasion! I think sympathy is the hardest thing to give, as most people just want someone to come near and say they care, not to offer a solution to their pain. And you are so right, only God can heal.
Love the soft colour palette you used for this card. Great to see this old set getting a work out. Still makes a great card.
